It’s the final five of Big Brother 28 and Dee & Devens have been the biggest power duo this season. They’ve worked hand in hand the entire time and are now so close to the end of the game. They have been the two most active players this season and are by far the biggest threats to win. Although they would love to go to the end with each other, they know they are each other’s biggest threat. As much as they hate to do so, at this point in the game, they have to turn on each other.
Week 11: Egyptian Proxy War
BB27 Vince comes back to give the houseguests money! He explains to the houseguests that they’ll all have an opportunity to earn money. They will go into separate rooms, each with a red button. If no one presses a button, everyone gets $1,000. If someone presses it, they get $10,000 and everyone else gets nothing. Devens, Melody, and Taylor all press the button, but Devens presses it the quickest, so he gets the $1,000 and unleashed the Pharaoh’s Curse into the house. The final five round will be sped up, with the HOH competition happening on Friday and a special Egyptian themed eviction on Sunday.
Devens is on a roll, winning the tiny HOH comp to earn himself a spot in the final four. He and Dee agree that Drew and Melody need to be split up since they are the only other remaining duo. However, the two disagree on which of the two should be evicted. Devens wants to keep Drew around since he is way closer to him than Melody. However, Dee wants to keep Melody because she thinks that Melody could be an easy person to take to the end. Dee does not voice her disagreement to Devens, instead going along with what he says. If Drew doesn’t win that veto, though, she’s voting him out.
Drew wins a highly inequitable veto comp and seals Melody’s fate. Despite Drew and Melody briefly joking about him using the veto on her, it was never going to happen. Drew uses the veto on himself and Devens nominates Taylor as the replacement nominee. Since Drew is definitely going to vote to save Melody, Dee has the power to flip the vote and send Taylor packing, blindsiding Devens. She decides it is not in her best interest though, and sticks with the plan. She votes to evict Melody while Drew votes to evict Taylor. Devens casts the tiebreaking vote to evict Melody. sending her out in 5th place. She hurries out the front door, but Drew stops her to give him one final hug before she goes. She tells him to win this whole game.
Melody Morris: Redeemed Comp Flop
After the absolute heights that Melody reached last week, it sucks to see her be evicted just three days later. She was one of the more popular houseguests this season, in a large part due to her maybe showmance with Drew. Although it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, Drewlody (or Melodrew) for some reason captured a lot of people’s hearts. I still don’t understand why exactly that dynamic was the one that everyone latched on to, but cool I guess. As for Melody herself, she may not have been the best strategist (she voted incorrectly more times than anyone else this season!), but she was an entertaining presence and one of the more rootable houseguests this season.
Week 12: Two Newbies, Two Survivors
It is absolutely insane to think about the fact that two Survivor players managed to make it to the final four of a Big Brother season! Especially considering that one of them is a winner and the other is one of the most chaotic players to ever be on Survivor! The $750,000 prize is nearer than ever and the two of them want that money more than anything else. They can’t deny or hide it. They need to play only for themselves now, no matter how much it hurts the other.
Taylor shocks everyone by winning the final four HOH comp, her first comp win since week 4! It could not have come at a better time, especially considering the fact that Dee, Devens, and Drew were all in the Crossovers. Now, she is guaranteed to reach finale night and one more Crossover will go home. At the final four, nominations don’t matter that much. It’s all about the final veto, since whoever wins that will have the sole power to decide who to evict. Knowing that, Taylor nominates Dee and Drew for eviction. She tells the audience that her actual target is Devens, though.
Drew absolutely crushes the final veto competition, securing his spot in the final three. He also ensures that a Survivor will go home. Which one though? Devens has been his ride or die for most of the game, the having a father-son like relationship. However, he is the biggest threat to win and Drew knows he can’t beat him. Dee, on the other hand, is someone he could beat in both competitions and possibly a jury vote. She’s been getting closer to Taylor this week, though, and there is worry that she would take Taylor to the final two over him, and vice versa. If Dee leaves, Drew is practically guaranteed at least second place, but may not have that great of win equity. Evicting his daddy could give him the win equity he needs to win.
It seems like Drew is keeping Dee for most of the week, but then, on eviction day, he tells the cameras that he’s going to be keeping Devens. It is a highly controversial decision, but he’s taking the guaranteed 2nd place prize at least. In front of Dee and Devens, he casts his sole vote to evict Dee.
Dee Valladares: Robbed
Dee was so close to the end. Her one weakness was the fact that she did not excel at Big Brother competitions the same way she did on Survivor. She had all of the right ideas. She knew that cutting Drew would weaken Devens and get her closer to the end. She wanted to work with both Melody and Taylor toward the end, knowing she could beat both of them. Unfortunately, so many of the competition results went the wrong way for her. Despite a heartbreaking loss, I had the time of my life rooting for Dee this season and she did amazing, especially considering she only recently got into the show. She is without a doubt one of the new faces of CBS Reality TV and we will be seeing so much more from her in the future.
